"My eyes are wild, my lips" tight pressed examines the idea of nature as a cultural repository of norms and moralism, drawing on queer ecology to reimagine cultural binaries that divide the natural from the unnatural, the human from the non-human. In the multimedia installation, visual elements indicative of the marbled crayfish’s uncanny ability to multiply keep reappearing. Instead of being a dominant character, it remains a flickering image in sculptural and sonic elements. A distinct quality of the sounds that activate the sculptural creatures are the way in which they are as much affecting the installation, as they are affected by it. Depending on how the sculptures are positioned and prepped with the audio signal processing technique, the characteristics of the sound are slightly altered. This makes the outcome unpredictable and allows for chance to enter the composition.
